**MALAPPURAM, January 19, 2025** – A large crowd gathered in Malappuram on Saturday evening to celebrate Malayalam cinema and Mapilapattu, a traditional Muslim folk music genre, at an event organized by the Rasmi Film Society. The event, part of the society’s golden jubilee celebrations, featured 22 singers from the Mehafil Academy performing popular Mapilapattu songs from various Malayalam films.

The program, held in collaboration with several organizations including the Kerala Chalachitra Academy and the Kerala Film Development Corporation, was inaugurated by poet Anil Mankada and presided over by Rasmi Film Society president Manambur Rajanbabu. A panel discussion included prominent figures from the film industry and related fields.

The event highlighted the rich cultural heritage of the region, showcasing the intersection of music and cinema in Malayalam film history.
