Mon Jan 20 02:40:00 UTC 2025: ## Rangers’ Miller Trade Talks Collapse; Drury Remains Active

**NEW YORK, NY –** The New York Rangers’ pursuit of Vancouver Canucks center J.T. Miller has hit a snag. While a trade appeared imminent Saturday, negotiations ultimately fell apart, leaving the Rangers’ GM Chris Drury back at the negotiating table.

Reports suggested that prospects Alexis Lafreniere and Braden Schneider were potential pieces in a deal for Miller. While the Canucks reportedly coveted Schneider, the Rangers were hesitant to relinquish the 23-year-old defenseman. Lafreniere, the 2020 first-overall pick, also emerged as a potential trade chip. The Canucks’ interest in Lafreniere is partly attributed to Assistant GM Emilie Castonguay, who previously represented him.

Despite the failed Miller trade, Drury is actively pursuing other options to bolster the Rangers’ roster. The team has shown marked improvement recently, posting a 6-1-2 record in January, and are now just three points out of a playoff spot. Several key players, including forwards Mika Zibanejad, Chris Kreider, and Reilly Smith, and defensemen K’Andre Miller and Ryan Lindgren, remain potential trade assets as Drury continues his search for improvements.
