**Mumbai, India** – Nutritionist Anjali Mukerjee is urging people to reconsider their relationship with fats, emphasizing the crucial role of selecting the right kinds for optimal health. In recent Instagram posts, Mukerjee debunked the myth that all fats are unhealthy, highlighting the dangers of trans fats while advocating for the inclusion of healthy fats in the diet.

Mukerjee stresses that while excessive consumption of processed and fried foods, high in trans and saturated fats, increases the risk of stroke, heart disease, type 2 diabetes, and obesity, eliminating fats entirely is not the answer. She points out that “choosing the right fats is key to staying healthy,” with good fats being essential for brain function, body health and cell membranes.

The nutritionist recommends incorporating cold-pressed oils like mustard, olive, and sesame oil into cooking. These oils are rich in monounsaturated fatty acids (MUFAs) and offer numerous health benefits. For saturated fats, Mukerjee suggests incorporating small amounts of cow ghee (clarified butter) made from A2 milk, citing its stability and overall health benefits.

In a previous post, Mukerjee detailed the significant health risks associated with trans fats, found in processed foods like cookies, pastries, and fried items. She highlighted research indicating that a mere 2% increase in trans fat intake can lead to a 26% rise in all-cause mortality.
