Mon Jan 20 14:20:09 UTC 2025: ## Kalaburagi MLA Orders Increased Monitoring of Schools and Anganwadi Centers
**Kalaburagi, Karnataka –** MLA Basavaraj Mattimod has issued a stern warning to officials in the Education and Women and Child Welfare Departments to improve oversight of schools and anganwadi centers in Kalaburagi Rural. Following a review meeting on Monday, Mattimod directed officials to conduct at least two site visits per week to address issues and ensure proper functioning.
Mattimod sharply criticized the discontinuation of mid-day meals at Dhammur Government Higher Primary School for the past month, demanding greater accountability from officials. He emphasized the importance of direct interaction with students to identify problems and improve school operations. He also reprimanded officials for negligence in managing food stocks and LPG cylinders, and condemned the practice of forcing children to sweep floors. The MLA further expressed concern over the slow progress in constructing 12 newly sanctioned anganwadi buildings, demanding their completion within three to four months. The meeting also revealed that 50 newly established anganwadi centers lack electricity connections. The Taluk Panchayat Executive Officer also highlighted the need to fill vacant non-teaching staff positions in schools.
