Sun Jan 19 23:14:45 UTC 2025: ## Jaiswal Gets Maiden ODI Call-Up for England Series and Champions Trophy

**Mumbai, India** – Yashasvi Jaiswal has received his first call-up to the Indian One Day International (ODI) team. The 23-year-old, already a seasoned Test and T20I player, will feature in the upcoming three-match ODI series against England in February, followed by the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.

The ODI series against England is scheduled for February 6th, 9th, and 12th, serving as a warm-up for the Champions Trophy, which runs from February 19th to March 9th. India will play their Champions Trophy matches in Dubai.

Captain Rohit Sharma explained Jaiswal’s selection, stating, “We picked Jaiswal on the basis of what he has shown in the last few months despite not playing ODI cricket. He has been picked on potential and sometimes you have to do that.”

Jaiswal’s impressive recent form strongly supports this decision. He was India’s top run-scorer in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, accumulating 391 runs at an average of 43.44. His 2024 Test statistics are equally impressive: 1478 runs at an average of 54.74 and a strike rate of nearly 70, including a world-record 36 sixes in a calendar year. He was even named in Cricket Australia’s best Test XI of 2024.

The Champions Trophy, returning after an eight-year hiatus, will see India compete in Group A alongside Pakistan, Bangladesh, and New Zealand. Their campaign begins against Bangladesh on February 20th.

The full Indian squad includes: Rohit Sharma (captain), Shubman Gill (vice-captain), Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul (wicket-keeper), Hardik Pandya, Axar Patel, Washington Sundar, Kuldeep Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammad Shami, Arshdeep Singh, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Rishabh Pant (wicket-keeper), and Ravindra Jadeja.
