**Ranipet, January 19, 2025** – A 25-year-old woman lost three fingers on her right hand in a freak accident on Sunday. P. Dhanalakshmi, a resident of Kavanoor village, was a passenger on a government bus traveling on the Old Madras-Bangalore Road in Walajah town when an unidentified vehicle, traveling in the opposite direction, grazed the bus. Dhanalakshmi, who was holding the window grill, suffered severe injuries when her hand was caught in the impact.
The incident occurred as the bus was traveling between Arcot and Kancheepuram. The unidentified vehicle sped away from the scene after the accident. Fellow passengers and bus crew rushed Dhanalakshmi to the Government Taluk Hospital in Walajah town, where she is receiving treatment.
Walajah police have registered a case and formed special teams to apprehend the driver of the unidentified vehicle. Investigators are also reviewing CCTV footage along the route to identify the vehicle involved. The investigation is ongoing.
