**New Delhi, January 20, 2025** – Saanvi Jha, a ninth-grader from Ryan International School, Kundalahalli in Bengaluru, has been recognized for her exceptional achievement in meteorology. Jha secured the top rank in Karnataka in the National Meteorological Olympiad and was felicitated by the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) during its 150th-anniversary celebrations in New Delhi on January 14th and 15th.

The ceremony, which included an address by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, saw Jha receive a ceremonial shield and certificate from M. Ravichandran, Secretary of the Ministry of Earth Sciences, and M. Mohapatra, Director General of Meteorology. Prior to the award ceremony, Jha participated in a workshop organized by the IMD on January 13th.

The IMD, a branch of the Ministry of Earth Sciences, is responsible for meteorological observations, weather forecasting, and seismology across India. Jha’s accomplishment highlights the growing interest and talent in meteorology amongst young Indians.
