**TAIPEI, TAIWAN –** A magnitude 6.4 earthquake struck southern Taiwan at 12:17 PM local time today, October 21st. The epicenter was located in Dapu Township, Chiayi County, at a depth of 9.7 kilometers. The quake was strongly felt across the island, with significant shaking reported in central and southern Taiwan.
According to the Central Weather Bureau, areas experiencing a tremor of magnitude 3 or higher include: Hsinchu, Miaoli, Taichung, Nantou, Changhua, Yunlin, Chiayi, Tainan, Kaohsiung, Pingtung, Yilan, Hualien, Taitung, and Penghu.
