**Chennai, January 19, 2025** – Edappadi K. Palaniswami, general secretary of the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK), strongly criticized the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) government in Tamil Nadu today over a recent surge in chain-snatching incidents. He cited eight reported incidents in Chennai and Tambaram in a single day, including one targeting a woman police sub-inspector.
Palaniswami, a former Chief Minister, called the situation “shocking” and indicative of the government’s failure to maintain law and order. He stated that the inability to ensure the safety of even policewomen highlights the government’s “helplessness” and demanded Chief Minister M.K. Stalin take responsibility. In a social media post, Palaniswami urged the government to not only apprehend the culprits but also implement measures to improve public safety.
