Sun Jan 19 09:10:00 UTC 2025: **Shiba Inu (SHIB) Price Plummets Despite Recent Burns**
NEW YORK, NY – January 18, 2024 – The Shiba Inu (SHIB) cryptocurrency experienced a significant price drop today, falling nearly 10% from its daily high to $0.00002235 before recovering slightly. This decline comes despite the recent burning of tens of millions of SHIB tokens.
According to data from the wallet tracker Shibburn, over 66 million SHIB were removed from circulation in the past week, though this represents a 24.11% decrease from the previous week’s burn rate. The daily burn rate also dropped significantly, by approximately 53%, with only 2.8 million SHIB burned in the last 24 hours. This included a single transaction eliminating over 2.3 million SHIB.
Despite these burn efforts, SHIB’s price mirrored Bitcoin’s trajectory, experiencing a substantial drop. Currently, approximately 584 trillion SHIB remain in circulation, out of an initial quadrillion supply. A significant portion of the initial supply has already been burned, largely due to the efforts of Vitalik Buterin, the Ethereum co-founder.
While the burn rate has decreased, the Shiba Inu community continues its efforts to reduce the circulating supply. However, investors are cautioned that cryptocurrency markets are inherently volatile and that past performance is not indicative of future results. Consult with a financial professional before making any investment decisions.
