Sun Jan 19 08:54:27 UTC 2025: ## Bollywood Actor Saif Ali Khan Stabbed in Home Invasion; Suspect Arrested

**Mumbai, India –** Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan is recovering after a terrifying home invasion early Thursday morning. A 30-year-old Bangladeshi man, identified as Mohammad Shariful Islam Shehzad, has been arrested in connection with the stabbing.

Khan, 54, suffered multiple stab wounds, including injuries to his neck and near his spine, during the attack at his upscale Bandra residence. He was rushed to Lilavati Hospital where he underwent a five-hour surgery to remove a 2.5-inch piece of the blade from his spine. Doctors report he is now recovering well.

Police say Shehzad, who had been living in Mumbai for four months under the alias Bijoy Das and working for a housekeeping company, entered Khan’s home with the intention of theft. He was apprehended near Hiranandani Estate in Thane, approximately 35 kilometers from the scene of the crime. Authorities recovered items confirming his Bangladeshi nationality; he lacked any Indian identification documents. A Bandra court has remanded him into five days of police custody.

The attack occurred while Khan was at home with his wife, actress Kareena Kapoor Khan, and their two children. A nurse caring for their younger son, Jeh, was also injured, along with another member of the household staff. The nurse reported that the attacker, armed with a knife and wooden stick, demanded a ransom of one crore rupees (approximately $1.2 million USD).

Initially, another suspect, Aakash Kailash Kannojia, was detained in Chhattisgarh based on Mumbai Police information. However, he was released following Shehzad’s arrest.

While there were no signs of forced entry, police believe the assailant scaled a wall from an adjacent building and used the fire escape to access Khan’s apartment. CCTV footage from the building reportedly captured the suspect.

The incident has sent shockwaves through the Bollywood community and highlighted security concerns for high-profile residents. The investigation is ongoing.
