**Kolkata, January 19, 2025** – A clash erupted on Saturday between Indian and Bangladeshi farmers near the Sukhdebpur border outpost in Malda district, West Bengal. The altercation, fueled by accusations of crop theft, escalated into a stone-throwing incident involving large numbers of farmers from both sides.
According to a press statement released by the South Bengal Frontier of the Border Security Force (BSF), the dispute began when Indian farmers alleged that their Bangladeshi counterparts were stealing crops. The situation quickly deteriorated into a shouting match and a stone-throwing melee.
Both BSF and Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) personnel intervened promptly, bringing the situation under control. While the clash lasted for a period of time, there were no reported injuries. Local television channels broadcast video footage of the incident.
