Sun Jan 19 05:36:48 UTC 2025: ## Brad Pitt’s Team Warns of Online Scam After French Woman Loses €800,000

**Paris, France –** A French woman has lost €800,000 in a sophisticated online scam perpetrated by individuals impersonating actor Brad Pitt. The victim, Anne (53), was targeted in February 2023 while on a ski trip. She received messages on Instagram from accounts posing as Pitt’s mother and the actor himself.

The scammers cultivated a relationship with Anne, who was going through a difficult divorce at the time, using AI-generated videos and images to maintain the illusion. They sent poems and declarations of love, eventually even proposing marriage.

After Anne finalized her divorce and received a €775,000 settlement, the scammers, posing as Pitt, fabricated a story about needing money for kidney cancer treatment, claiming his bank accounts were frozen due to his divorce proceedings with Angelina Jolie. Anne transferred the money.

The deception only came to light months later when Anne saw reports of Pitt’s relationship with Ines De Ramon. She is now hospitalized, suffering from severe depression.

Brad Pitt’s representatives issued a statement condemning the scam and urging fans to be wary of unsolicited online contact, particularly from actors without an official social media presence. “It’s awful that scammers take advantage of fans’ strong connection with celebrities,” the spokesperson said. This is not an isolated incident; Spanish authorities arrested five individuals in September 2023 for a similar scam involving two other victims and €325,000. The incident serves as a stark reminder of the dangers of online interactions with strangers.
