**Visakhapatnam, January 18, 2025** – Rushikonda Beach, a Blue Flag certified beach in Visakhapatnam, has been declared a “No Plastic Zone” by District Collector M.N. Harendhira Prasad. The announcement followed an awareness program on Saturday promoting a plastic-free and eco-friendly environment at the popular tourist destination.
The initiative involved representatives from the Beach Management Committee (BMC), the District Tourism Officer, AP Tourism Development Corporation, Fisheries Survey of India, GVMC, and several NGOs including Go Green and Youth Club of India. Private sector companies Coromandel International and Divis also participated. The program aimed to raise awareness and encourage responsible tourism practices to maintain the beach’s pristine condition.
