TIRUCHI, INDIA – January 18, 2025 – Tiruchi is preparing to host the diamond jubilee jamboree of Bharat Scouts and Guides, a massive event expected to draw over 25,000 participants, including international students, from January 28 to February 3. The event, titled the “Kalaignar Centenary Special Jamboree,” will be held at the SIPCOT industrial estate complex in Manapparai.

Extensive preparations are underway, with a significant investment of ₹40 crore allocated from state funds and private contributions. The infrastructure includes over 2,400 tents, more than 2,000 toilets and shower facilities, 72 kitchens, and 30 dining areas to accommodate the large number of attendees. Security measures include 350 surveillance cameras. A market with 50 shops will also be available on-site. Medical facilities will consist of two 25-bed hospitals, 15 mobile clinics, and 15 ambulances, with a dedicated team of women physicians.

Tiruchi Collector M. Pradeep Kumar, along with other officials including the Superintendent of Police and the State Chief Commissioner of Bharat Scouts and Guides, recently inspected the ongoing preparations, which include venues for cultural programs and a model village showcasing Tamil Nadu’s culture. Trekking routes in Malayapatti village and their security are also under review. The School Education Minister, Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi, has been overseeing the project alongside Collector Kumar. The event promises to be a significant undertaking, showcasing the scale of scouting in India and attracting significant international participation.
