Sat Jan 18 08:20:00 UTC 2025: ## Theo James Makes Bloody Horror Debut in Stephen King Adaptation “The Monkey”

**Los Angeles, CA** – Theo James (“White Lotus,” “The Time Traveler’s Wife”) is stepping into the horror genre with his role in “The Monkey,” a darkly comedic adaptation of a Stephen King short story. The film, produced by horror maestro James Wan, sees James playing twin brothers who unearth a cursed monkey toy, leading to a series of gruesome deaths and a terrifying reunion years later.

Directed by Osgood Perkins (“Longlegs”), “The Monkey” also stars Elijah Wood and Tatiana Maslany. Perkins described the film as a “wry, absurdist comedy about death,” drawing inspiration from classic horror-comedy directors like John Landis and Joe Dante. This approach departs from traditional haunted-toy narratives, opting for a tragicomic tone instead.

“The Monkey” marks Perkins’ follow-up to his record-breaking success with “Longlegs,” Neon’s highest-grossing film to date. This latest project further solidifies Perkins’ and Neon’s position in the horror genre. The film is set to premiere in theaters on February 21st.
