**MUMBAI, INDIA** – Spiritual leader Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev attended a special screening of Kangana Ranaut’s film “Emergency” on Friday and lauded the director’s portrayal of India’s tumultuous 1975-77 Emergency period. He particularly emphasized the importance of young audiences seeing the film as a historical learning tool.

“It’s been 50 years, and we can now consider it history,” Sadhguru stated. “The question is whether, as a nation, we learn from what happens to us or if we continue to repeat the same mistakes.” He shared his own experience of the Emergency as a university student, highlighting the impact it had on him and the need for younger generations, who may not have lived through it, to understand this crucial period.

While acknowledging the complexity of condensing such a significant event into a two-and-a-half-hour film, Sadhguru praised the film’s presentation. He also commended Kangana Ranaut and Anupam Kher’s performances, noting the challenge of portraying such iconic historical figures.

The film, released on January 17, 2025, explores the political upheaval and social impact of Indira Gandhi’s declaration of Emergency.
