Sat Jan 18 13:22:41 UTC 2025: ## Coimbatore RPF Seizes Liquor, Ganja in Train Raids; Online Fraudster Arrested
**COIMBATORE, January 18, 2025** – Railway Protection Force (RPF) teams in Coimbatore have made significant seizures of contraband during recent operations. In one instance, 31 bottles of Puducherry-manufactured liquor were confiscated from an unclaimed bag on the Karaikal-Ernakulam Express. The liquor, valued at ₹6,944, was handed over to the Prohibition Enforcement Wing of the State police.
In a separate operation on the Patna Junction-Ernakulam Junction Express, RPF officers discovered approximately 10 kg of ganja, worth ₹5 lakh, in an unclaimed bag. This was also transferred to the Prohibition Enforcement Wing. Both seizures were part of Operation ‘Satark’.
Meanwhile, Coimbatore police arrested a 39-year-old man, Madhappan, from Hosur, in connection with an online fraud case. A 71-year-old retired deputy manager, Yuvaraj, was conned out of ₹10.06 lakh after responding to a WhatsApp message promising high returns on a stock market investment. Police investigations revealed Madhappan had engaged in similar fraudulent activities totaling ₹1.9 crore involving eight victims over the past two years. He has been charged under Section 318(4) of the BNS and Section 66D of the Information Technology Amendment Act 2008.
