Sat Jan 18 04:10:00 UTC 2025: ## Lakers Waive Promising G League Guard Quincy Olivari, Sign Trey Jemison

**LOS ANGELES –** The Los Angeles Lakers have waived rookie guard Quincy Olivari, despite his impressive performance in the G League, sources confirmed. Olivari, an undrafted free agent out of Xavier, averaged 17.2 points, 4.4 assists, and 4.4 rebounds per game for the South Bay Lakers this season, showcasing a consistent ability to score and facilitate. His strong three-point shooting (40.6%) also caught the eye of several observers, including former Laker D’Angelo Russell, who commented on Olivari’s apparent readiness for the NBA.

The move frees up a roster spot for the Lakers, who are reportedly signing former New Orleans Pelicans center Trey Jemison to a two-way contract. Jemison, known for his physicality, will provide additional depth in the frontcourt. He averaged 5.1 points and 4.3 rebounds in 41 career NBA games.

While Olivari’s collegiate career at Rice and Xavier was marked by strong scoring (19.1 points per game in his final season), his age (23) may have contributed to his undrafted status. Despite his limited NBA experience (eight minutes in two games), his G League success is expected to generate significant interest from other teams as he enters free agency.
