**Bengaluru, January 18, 2025** – The Karnataka government plans to construct a state-of-the-art planetarium and a modern regional science center in Raichur, as announced by Minister for Minor Irrigation, Science, and Technology N.S. Boseraju following a high-level meeting. The project aims to expand science education across the state.

Minister Boseraju emphasized the importance of establishing science centers in every district and directed officials to expedite the construction of the Raichur facility. The architectural team has been instructed to submit a design within 90 days, followed by a detailed project report (DPR). The minister also advocated for a fully equipped planetarium to be included within the Raichur science center.

Further expansion plans include allocating land in the upcoming budget for new science centers in Kolar, Chitradurga, Ramanagara, and Vijayanagar districts. The government also intends to accelerate efforts to operationalize pending science centers in Chikkamagaluru, Shivamogga, Kodagu, and Belagavi.

Additionally, the meeting discussed upgrading the Dr. H. Narasimhaiah Science Centre at Gauribidanur to an international-level facility. Minister Boseraju confirmed that sufficient land is available, and a local committee will be formed to manage land acquisition.
