Guntur, Andhra Pradesh – January 18, 2025 – Andhra Pradesh’s Minister for Education and IT, Nara Lokesh, today paid homage to his grandfather and Telugu Desam Party (TDP) founder, Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao (NTR), on the 29th anniversary of his death. Lokesh described NTR not merely as a name, but as a phenomenon, a sensation, and the epitome of Telugu identity.
Lokesh, in a social media post, lauded NTR’s contributions to both the silver screen and politics, emphasizing the party’s founding principles of self-respect for the Telugu people, social justice, and public welfare. He stated that NTR’s philosophy, “society is the temple, and the people are God,” continues to inspire him.
The TDP is observing the anniversary with various events across Andhra Pradesh. Party leaders, workers, and NTR’s admirers are paying their respects at his statues and participating in service activities and blood donation drives. Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu is scheduled to attend a commemoration event in Maiduquru, Kadapa district, and also launch the “Swachha Andhra Swachha Divas” (Clean Andhra Clean Day) program.
