Sat Jan 18 10:20:00 UTC 2025: ## NEC and Kawasaki City Launch Entrepreneurship Program for High School and University Students
**Kawasaki, Japan –** NEC Corporation, in collaboration with the Kawasaki City government and the NEC Pro Bono Club, recently launched a pilot entrepreneurship program, “Kawasaki Venture School: Experience Course,” as part of Kawasaki City’s 100th anniversary celebrations. The program aims to cultivate future leaders capable of tackling global challenges.
The inaugural “Experience Course,” held on December 21st, 2024, featured a lecture by Gaku Goto, CEO of Helte Inc., a graduate of the NEC Social Entrepreneurship Program. Participants engaged in workshops focused on using digital technologies for social problem-solving. Overwhelmingly positive feedback indicated the program significantly increased participants’ awareness of social issues.
Building on this experience, a five-day “Practical Course” will be held in February 2025. This course will challenge participants to identify and develop solutions to real-world problems, collaborating with local engineers and their peers. The program will provide hands-on experience, guiding participants from problem identification to prototype creation.
NEC’s commitment to fostering entrepreneurship aligns with its broader goal of contributing to a sustainable society in Kawasaki. The company has a long history of corporate social responsibility, having launched its pro bono program in 2010 and establishing the NEC Pro Bono Club in 2020. The club, comprised of approximately 700 NEC group volunteers, received an award from Kawasaki City during its 100th-anniversary ceremony in July 2024.
