**New Delhi** – India unveiled its squad for the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy and the upcoming ODI series against England on Saturday. The announcement, made by Captain Rohit Sharma and chief selector Ajit Agarkar, sparked considerable interest with the naming of Shubman Gill as vice-captain.
The selection panel also included pace bowler Jasprit Bumrah, whose fitness will be reassessed in February, according to Agarkar. The squad features KL Rahul and Rishabh Pant as wicket-keepers, snubbing Sanju Samson. Other notable omissions include Mohammed Siraj. However, the return of Kuldeep Yadav and Mohammed Shami, both recovering from injuries, is a welcome boost.
Head coach Gautam Gambhir was absent from the press conference, having contributed to the selection process in a meeting with Rohit and the selectors on Friday.
