**Mumbai, India** – Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan underwent surgery after being stabbed six times by an intruder at his Mumbai residence early Thursday morning. His wife, actress Kareena Kapoor Khan, witnessed the attack and gave a statement to police describing a violent assault.
According to Kapoor Khan, the intruder, who demanded money, repeatedly stabbed Ali Khan while he tried to protect their children, Taimur and Jehangir. The attacker fled the scene without taking any valuables. Following the attack, a terrified Kapoor Khan sought refuge at her sister Karisma’s home.
Ali Khan was rushed to Lilavati Hospital where he underwent surgery for injuries sustained when shards of the knife lodged in his spine, causing spinal fluid leakage. Hospital sources report he is recovering well and is expected to be discharged in a few days.
Police investigation reveals the intruder spent approximately 30 minutes inside the 11th-floor apartment, accessing the building via an adjacent compound and using the fire escape. The nanny, Eliyama Philips, initially encountered the attacker who demanded ₹1 crore (approximately $121,000 USD) before Ali Khan intervened.
Mumbai police have reviewed CCTV footage showing the suspect entering and leaving the building. Over 30 statements have been recorded, and while one individual was briefly detained, no arrests have been made. Twenty police teams, including ten from the Crime Branch, are actively investigating, reviewing CCTV footage from the Bandra area, and pursuing multiple leads. The suspect is described as having dark skin and a slim build.
