Sat Jan 18 14:21:41 UTC 2025: ## EPFO Streamlines Process, Empowering Employees to Self-Correct Details

**New Delhi, January 18, 2025** – The Employees Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has announced significant reforms aimed at easing the process of updating personal details for its members. Union Labour Minister Mansukh Mandaviya revealed that employees can now self-correct errors in their profiles, including name, date of birth, and contact information, without employer verification or EPFO approval. This eliminates a major source of delays and grievances.

The move addresses the substantial backlog of requests for profile corrections. Previously, the EPFO received over eight lakh such requests, with employers taking an average of 28 days to process them. Minister Mandaviya stated that this reform will drastically reduce the 27% of grievances currently related to member profile issues.

Further streamlining the process, EPF members with Aadhaar-linked Universal Account Numbers (UANs) can now file online transfer claims using an Aadhaar OTP, bypassing employer intervention. This is expected to significantly reduce the 17% of grievances related to transfer-related issues and delays. Previously, employers’ verification added 12-13 days to the transfer claim process, resulting in nearly 2 million pending claims over 15 days old.

The reforms, part of the EPFO 2.0 system update, aim to bring the EPFO’s systems on par with banking standards through the forthcoming EPFO 3.0. Minister Mandaviya also indicated that the EPFO is working on reforms to address delays in pension payment orders.
