**Chennai, January 18, 2025** – The Greater Chennai City Traffic Police (GCTP) have announced significant traffic diversions in connection with Republic Day celebrations on January 26th, and the scheduled rehearsals on January 20th, 22nd, and 24th. These diversions will affect Kamarajar Salai, a major arterial road.

The Gandhi Statue-War Memorial stretch of Kamarajar Salai will be completely closed to all vehicles from 6:00 a.m. until the conclusion of the events (approximately 9:30 a.m.).

Extensive diversions are planned for vehicles approaching from various directions. Commercial vehicles heading towards Parrys Corner from Adyar will be rerouted via a lengthy alternate route including R.K. Mutt Road, and several other streets. MTC buses and other vehicles from Adyar will use a different, but still significantly altered route. Vehicles approaching from Mylapore and Royapettah will also face diversions.

Specific diversions are also in place for vehicles approaching Kamarajar Salai from Dr. Natesan Road, Dr. Besant Road, Bharathi Salai, and Wallajah Road, all of which will be redirected to prevent congestion on Kamarajar Salai.

The Anna Square Bus Terminus will be temporarily relocated to Chintadripet Railway Station. Vehicles traveling from Parrys Corner to Adyar will also face diversions.

Motorists are urged to check alternate routes and plan their journeys accordingly to avoid delays. The GCTP advises commuters to allow extra travel time due to the expected disruption.
