Fri Jan 17 23:00:00 UTC 2025: ## Telangana Congress Blasts BRS Over Krishna River Water Allocation
**Hyderabad, January 18, 2025** – Telangana Congress leader Uttam Kumar Reddy accused the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) of neglecting the state’s fight for a larger share of Krishna river waters for a decade. Reddy, the Irrigation Minister, claimed the Congress government secured a review of the Krishna Water Disputes Tribunal’s (KWDT-II) allocation, arguing the BRS’s agreement with Andhra Pradesh shortchanged Telangana.
Reddy highlighted that the Congress party consistently advocated for a share based on Telangana’s catchment area and ayacut, unlike the BRS, which he accused of signing an agreement allocating only 299 TMC ft to Telangana versus 512 TMC ft to Andhra Pradesh out of a total 811 TMC ft. He questioned the BRS’s inaction regarding the Brijesh Kumar Tribunal’s repeatedly extended deadlines for water allocation. Reddy asserted that the Congress government, since taking power, has intensified pressure on the central government to expedite the process.
