**Hyderabad, January 18, 2025** – BJP Medak MP M. Raghunandan Rao was detained by police today for leading a protest against the construction of a retaining wall on 25 acres of disputed land in Telangana’s Rangareddy-Sangareddy districts. The protest, involving local tribals, claimed the construction violated a High Court order.
Rao and his supporters staged a sit-in, demanding that the district collector halt the work. Minor clashes occurred when police intervened to arrest the MP, who was subsequently taken to Patancheru police station. The protestors, claiming ownership of the land, shouted slogans against the government and police.
Earlier this week, Rao accused ruling party officials of land grabbing and called for the intervention of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and DGP Jitender. Meanwhile, BJP vice-president N.V.S.S. Prabhakar met with Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in Delhi, discussing Telangana’s financial situation and infrastructure development initiatives.
