**Prayagraj, India** – The International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) and the Adani Group are collaborating to provide daily meals to over 100,000 people at the ongoing Maha Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj. Using three kitchens across the city, ISKCON prepares nutritious vegetarian meals, cooked traditionally on clay stoves using wood and cow dung cakes, and distributes them at 40 locations including bus stations, railway stations, and designated holding areas for pilgrims.
The initiative, which serves approximately 30,000-35,000 people per meal session, three times a day, also extends to 15,000 sanitation workers involved in maintaining the fairgrounds. The Adani Group, providing 100 vehicles for distribution and 3,000-3,500 volunteers, has significantly boosted ISKCON’s food distribution capacity, increasing it eight to tenfold.
The project, lauded for its environmental consciousness with a complete absence of plastic, highlights the partnership’s dedication to serving the massive influx of devotees during the 45-day event. The Adani Group’s enthusiastic participation, evidenced by over 4,000 employee applications to volunteer within a single day, and the involvement of senior executives, underscores the scale and commitment to this humanitarian endeavor. ISKCON has been preparing for this event for months, even making the cow dung cakes used in cooking six months in advance.
