**Cairo, Egypt** – The Egyptian Ministry of Interior has issued a series of safety warnings for drivers in light of predicted foggy conditions and a significant drop in temperatures across the country. The warnings come as the Egyptian Meteorological Authority (EMA) forecasts moderate daytime temperatures in Cairo, the northern coast, and the northern Delta region, with warmer temperatures in Upper Egypt and South Sinai. However, extremely cold temperatures are expected overnight and in the early morning hours, with a possibility of frost in central Sinai.
The Ministry’s advisory focuses on safe driving practices during periods of heavy fog, recommending drivers:
* **Reduce speed:** Maintain a speed of no more than 30 km/h.
* **Utilize lights:** Turn on all vehicle lights, including low beams, fog lights, and hazard lights as needed.
* **Ventilate the vehicle:** Open windows slightly to prevent condensation buildup.

Separately, the Ministry announced successful arrests of numerous thieves, including those involved in car break-ins in Dar El Salam and a mobile phone theft ring in Maadi.
The EMA predicts the cold spell will continue, with frigid overnight temperatures across most of Egypt, although South Sinai and South Upper Egypt will remain relatively warmer.
