Tue Jan 14 20:10:00 UTC 2025: **Chelsea Aim to Rebound Against Bournemouth After FA Cup Victory**
LONDON – Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca is hoping his team can use their 5-0 FA Cup win over Morecambe as a springboard to end their four-game Premier League winless streak. The Blues face Bournemouth on Tuesday, a team currently unbeaten in their last eight league matches and sitting just three points behind Chelsea in the standings.
Despite a strong start to the season that saw them reach second place, Chelsea have slipped to fourth, now ten points behind league leaders Liverpool. Maresca acknowledged Bournemouth’s strength, describing them as “a very good team, very tough, very intense.”
The manager provided positive injury updates, confirming winger Noni Madueke is fully fit and that both Reece James and Romeo Lavia, who both have battled hamstring injuries, are available after featuring in the FA Cup match. However, he cautioned that their playing time will be carefully managed.
While Maresca stated that Chelsea doesn’t need to sell players this January, he did confirm that some players, such as defender Ben Chilwell, may leave in search of more playing time. The future of defender Renato Veiga, who joined from Basel in July, remains uncertain amidst media speculation linking him to Borussia Dortmund. Maresca stated that, as of Monday, Veiga is still a Chelsea player.
