Wed Jan 15 14:52:36 UTC 2025: ## Puducherry Celebrates Thiruvalluvar Day
**Puducherry, January 15, 2025** – Lieutenant Governor K. Kailashnathan and Chief Minister N. Rangasamy led the celebrations for Thiruvalluvar Day in Puducherry on Wednesday, paying floral tributes to a statue of the Tamil saint-poet near the New Bus Stand. The event, which coincided with Pongal, was attended by several dignitaries including Speaker R. Selvam, Ministers, and MLAs.
Separately, the DMK organized its own Thiruvalluvar Day celebrations, led by Leader of Opposition R. Siva. The party paid homage to Thiruvalluvar with floral tributes to his portrait at the party office and unveiled a new statue near the bus terminal. Former Speaker SP Sivakumar and several MLAs also participated.
