**Mysuru, Karnataka, January 15, 2025** – The 77th Indian Army Day was commemorated in Mysuru today with a special ceremony at the Government School for the Blind. Organized by the Mysuru Ex-Servicemen Movement, the event honored the legacy of General K.M. Cariappa, the first Indian Commander-in-Chief, who took command on January 15, 1949.
The celebrations included tributes to soldiers who sacrificed their lives for the nation. Students from the blind school and the Sainik Academy participated, along with members of the Ex-Servicemen’s Movement. Games and sports were organized for visually impaired children. The bust of Louis Braille was also garlanded.
The event also served as a platform to advocate for improved support for ex-servicemen. Organizers urged the government to include stories of military valor in school textbooks and allocate land to retired personnel as part of resettlement packages.
