THANJAVUR, January 14, 2025 – Maharashtra Governor C. P. Radhakrishnan inaugurated the 178th Aradhana Festival in Thiruvaiyaru, emphasizing the importance of devotion for self-discipline. Speaking at the event on Tuesday, the Governor cited the life of Saint Composer Thyagaraja, who composed over 700 of his approximately 800 ‘kritis’ in praise of Lord Rama. He highlighted music’s ability to transcend language, caste, and religion, promoting peace and calmness.

Governor Radhakrishnan lauded Thyagaraja’s contribution to the ‘bhakthi margam’ (path of devotion) through his compositions. He also commended the Sri Thyagabrahma Mahotsava Sabha for preserving and promoting the composer’s legacy.

The festival, attended by Rajya Sabha MP G.K. Vasan and Thanjavur Collector B. Priyanka Pankajam, will conclude on January 18th with a performance of the ‘pancharatna kritis’ at Sri Thyagabrahmam’s memorial on the banks of the Cauvery river.
