**Pune, India –** The Indian Army celebrated its annual Army Day today with a spectacular parade in Pune, showcasing its military might and technological advancements. The parade, presided over by Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi, featured marching contingents, displays of weaponry, and aerial flypasts. This year’s event marked several significant firsts.

General Dwivedi addressed the nation, highlighting the army’s readiness to face any challenge, particularly mentioning the stable yet sensitive situation on the northern borders. He emphasized the modernization efforts underway and the significant infrastructure development in the region. While acknowledging a ceasefire on the western border, he noted ongoing infiltration attempts. He also pointed to a significant decrease in violence in Jammu & Kashmir, attributing the improvement to sustained security efforts and the peaceful conduct of recent elections and the Amarnath Yatra.

The parade included a historic first: the participation of a Nepali Army Band. The 33-member band, including three women, showcased a unique blend of cultural and musical traditions, underscoring the strong friendship between the Indian and Nepali armies. This participation symbolizes deepening military and diplomatic ties between the two nations.

Another noteworthy debut was the all-women Agniveer marching contingent, a powerful display of female empowerment and excellence within the Indian Army. Led by Captain Sandhya Rao H, the contingent demonstrated the strength, discipline, and dedication of women in the military police.

The parade also featured impressive displays of modern military hardware, including T-90 tanks, K-9 Vajra howitzers, and various advanced vehicles and systems. Army Aviation’s Chetak helicopters performed in a new formation, showering flower petals on the marching contingents. Several tableaux depicted themes such as the Army’s commitment to sports (Mission Olympics), the dedication of veterans, and efforts toward carbon neutrality.

Army Day commemorates the appointment of Field Marshal K.M. Cariappa as the first Indian Commander-in-Chief of the Indian Army in 1949. General Dwivedi concluded his address by reiterating the Indian Army’s commitment to maintaining a secure and stable environment for India’s progress and development.
