Tue Jan 14 16:49:07 UTC 2025: ## Elderly Pilgrim Dies in Bus Fire at Vrindavan Tourist Centre

**Vrindavan, Uttar Pradesh –** A tragic incident occurred Tuesday evening at the Vrindavan Tourist Centre, resulting in the death of an elderly pilgrim. A private bus carrying approximately 50 pilgrims from Telangana to the Prayagraj Maha Kumbh caught fire while parked at the facility.

The blaze erupted quickly, engulfing the bus before fire services could fully extinguish it. One passenger, identified as Dhrupati, was unable to escape and died in the fire. His body has been sent for post-mortem.

Police are investigating the cause of the fire. While one fellow passenger suggested the fire may have started from a lit beedi (Indian hand-rolled cigarette) allegedly being smoked by Dhrupati inside the bus, authorities are pursuing all possible leads. At the time of the incident, some pilgrims had left the bus to visit local temples while others remained to prepare food.

The incident caused significant chaos at the tourist centre. Additional SP City Arvind Kumar confirmed the details and stated that a full investigation is underway.
