**Prayagraj, India** – Laurene Powell Jobs, widow of Apple co-founder Steve Jobs, developed allergies on her second day attending the Maha Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh. Despite this, she plans to proceed with the sacred ritual of bathing in the Ganges River.
Spiritual leader Swami Kailashanand Giri reported that Ms. Jobs, who he nicknamed “Kamala,” is resting comfortably at his camp after experiencing allergic reactions, likely due to the immense crowds. This is her first time attending the massive religious gathering, a Poorna Kumbh occurring only once every 144 years.
Millions of pilgrims are expected to participate in the holy dips, with an estimated 3-4 crore people anticipated for the first Amrit Snan on Tuesday at the Triveni Sangam, the confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna, and Saraswati rivers. The event saw the participation of Sadhus from thirteen Akhadas of the Sanatan Dharma, who took dips in a specific order.
Ms. Jobs arrived on Monday and will remain at the Kumbh tent city until January 15th before returning to the United States for President-elect Donald Trump’s inauguration on January 20th. The Maha Kumbh, one of the world’s largest religious gatherings, continues until February 26th, with several key bathing dates scheduled throughout.
