Tue Jan 14 06:20:00 UTC 2025: ## MSNBC Shakes Up Primetime Lineup in Anticipation of Trump’s Presidency

**NEW YORK** – MSNBC announced a major shakeup to its primetime schedule, effective immediately, in response to Donald Trump’s return to the White House. Rachel Maddow, who scaled back her on-air presence during the Biden administration, will return to a nightly broadcast for the first 100 days of Trump’s presidency. Maddow’s hour-long show will air weeknights at 9 p.m. ET, beginning immediately.

Alex Wagner, who currently fills the weekday 9 p.m. ET slot, will shift to special reporting across the country, focusing on the impact of Trump’s early policies. After April 30th, Maddow will revert to her Monday-only schedule, with Wagner taking over the remaining weeknights. The network hopes the return of Maddow, along with a new Chris Hayes-hosted fact-checking segment titled “Here Is What Is True,” will boost ratings, which dipped following Trump’s re-election.

Meanwhile, Fox News announced that conservative pundit Will Cain will replace Neil Cavuto in the 4 p.m. weekday slot. Cavuto retired in December. These programming changes reflect the cable news networks’ strategies to capitalize on anticipated heightened viewer interest in the new administration.
