MALAPPURAM, Kerala, January 14, 2025 – G. Mohan Gopal, former director of the National Judicial Academy, delivered a powerful call for citizens to uphold the Constitution during a two-day seminar held at the Sayyid Muhammed Ali Shihab Thangal Memorial Arts and Science Women’s College in Kattilangadi, Malappuram. Addressing the seminar, titled “Democracy and minorities: rights, resistance, representation,” Prof. Gopal expressed concern over the current political climate, stating that a small section is unduly influencing the government. He urged the public to actively resist this influence.
The seminar, organized by the college’s Department of English, featured various academicians and experts discussing issues related to democracy and minority rights. Rajesh Komath of Mahatma Gandhi University presided over the opening session, while Kurukkoli Moideen, MLA, was the chief guest at the valedictory session.
