**Villupuram, Tamil Nadu, January 14, 2025** – A minor train derailment occurred at Villupuram railway yard early this morning, causing a brief disruption to train services. According to railway officials, a Mainline Electric Multiple Unit (MEMU) train derailed at approximately 5:32 a.m. while shunting. While a few passengers were onboard at the time, thankfully no injuries were reported.
The incident involved a single wheel derailing from a single bogie of the MEMU rake (Train no. 66063). Passengers awaiting the affected service were accommodated on Train no. 11005 Dadar-Puducherry Express, which made all scheduled stops en route to ensure minimal travel disruption.
While the derailment briefly affected train movement towards Puducherry, the main line remained open. Railway crews swiftly cleared the tracks, restoring normal service by 8:40 a.m. An official investigation into the cause of the derailment is underway.
