**Prayagraj, India** – The Mahakumbh Mela 2025, one of the world’s largest religious gatherings, commenced in Prayagraj with the first “Amrit Snan” (holy bath) on Makar Sankranti. Millions of devotees, including a significant number of international pilgrims, flocked to the Sangam – the confluence of the Ganges, Yamuna, and Saraswati rivers – to participate in the sacred ritual.

Authorities reported over 25 million pilgrims had taken the dip by 3 PM, with the number steadily increasing throughout the day. Despite frigid temperatures, the faith of the pilgrims remained unwavering. A dedicated app was launched to assist pilgrims with information and logistics. While access to the Lete Hanuman Temple was restricted due to safety concerns during peak hours, the overall atmosphere was described as peaceful and harmonious.
