**Akhnoor, Jammu and Kashmir:** Defence Minister Rajnath Singh today lauded Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah for his work in improving relations between the region and the central government. Speaking at the ninth armed forces veterans’ day rally in Akhnoor, Singh emphasized the BJP government’s commitment to treating Jammu and Kashmir and Delhi equally, contrasting this with the alleged differential treatment of the past.

Singh credited the current government with bridging the “distance between hearts” between Kashmir and the rest of India. While acknowledging some remaining gap, he specifically commended Chief Minister Abdullah’s efforts to further close this divide.

He concluded his address by extending festive greetings to the veterans and reiterating the government’s commitment to treating Kashmir with the same importance as Delhi.
