**Hyderabad, India –** The producers of the Telugu blockbuster “Game Changer” have filed a police complaint alleging piracy and extortion. A group of around 45 individuals are accused of leaking a pirated HD version of the film online on its release day, January 10th. The complaint, filed with the cybercrime cell, alleges that the group initially attempted to extort money from the producers, led by Dil Raju, threatening to leak the film if their demands were not met.
According to the film’s team, plot points were leaked online two days prior to the release, followed by the full pirated version appearing on platforms like Telegram on January 10th. The film, directed by Shankar and starring Ram Charan and Kiara Advani, enjoyed a strong box office opening, grossing ₹88.50 crore domestically in its first weekend. Despite the setback of piracy, the film continues to perform well across multiple languages.
The investigation is underway to determine if the 45 suspects acted independently or as part of a larger organized group. The producers have provided evidence to the cybercrime cell to aid in the investigation. This incident highlights the ongoing challenges faced by the film industry in combating piracy and online extortion.
