Tue Jan 14 08:52:17 UTC 2025: ## Delhi CM Atishi Files Nomination Amidst FIR and Fundraising Success
**New Delhi, January 14, 2025** – Delhi Chief Minister Atishi, of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), today filed her nomination for the Kalkaji Assembly constituency in the upcoming February 5th elections. This comes just a day after a police FIR was filed against her for an alleged violation of the Model Code of Conduct.
Atishi, who previously defeated BJP’s Dharambir Singh by over 10%, will face BJP’s Ramesh Bidhuri and Congress’ Alka Lamba in the race for the Kalkaji seat. She expressed confidence in securing another victory, stating, “On the occasion of Makar Sankranti, I have filed my nomination and hope to receive the same love from the people of Kalkaji as before.”
Responding to the FIR, Atishi accused BJP leader Parvesh Verma of distributing money to voters, citing television reports and his subsequent explanations for distributing items bearing his name. She claimed the Election Commission has not found these actions to be violations of the Model Code of Conduct.
Atishi, who became Delhi’s third female Chief Minister in September after Arvind Kejriwal’s resignation, has already demonstrated significant fundraising success. Within six hours of launching an online campaign donation portal, she raised over Rs 15 lakh, exceeding her initial target. Her campaign aims to collect Rs 40 lakh.
Her opponent, Alka Lamba, also filed her nomination papers today. Lamba’s political career includes stints with the Congress, AAP, and back to Congress.
Meanwhile, Arvind Kejriwal has stated his intention to reclaim the Chief Ministership only if the AAP secures a fresh mandate in the elections. Vote counting is scheduled for February 8th.
