**CLEMSON, S.C.** — Riding a four-game ACC winning streak, the No. 3 Notre Dame Fighting Irish (13-2, 4-0) hold sole possession of first place in the conference heading into a Sunday matchup against the Clemson Tigers (10-6, 3-2). Tip-off is scheduled for 2 p.m. ET on The CW.
The Irish are coming off a dominant 100-64 victory over Wake Forest, fueled by All-Americans Hannah Hidalgo’s 23 points and 6 steals, and Olivia Miles’ 13 points and 9 assists. Miles continues to impress, leading the ACC and ranking second nationally with 7.2 assists per game. Forward Maddy Westbeld, returning from injury, contributed 14 points and 6 rebounds.
Clemson, however, presents a formidable challenge. Under first-year head coach Shawn Poppie, the Tigers are playing exceptionally well, recently earning USBWA National Team of the Week honors after upsetting No. 20 California. Their impressive recent wins also include a victory over Stanford. Clemson’s success is built on a strong defense, notably holding both Stanford and California – two of the ACC’s top three-point shooting teams – to just 23 percent from beyond the arc. This is significant, considering Notre Dame leads the nation in three-point field goal percentage defense.
A key player to watch for Clemson is Loyal McQueen, a transfer averaging 14 points and 5.3 assists per game. McQueen, the 2019-20 South Carolina Gatorade State Player of the Year, has prior experience against Notre Dame from her time at Georgia Tech.
