**TIRUMALA, January 14, 2025** – A Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) bus carrying pilgrims crashed on the ghat road leading to Tirumala on Monday, injuring over a dozen passengers. The accident occurred approximately nine kilometers from Alipiri when the bus reportedly experienced a mechanical failure, veering off the road and colliding with a wall before blocking the roadway.
Traffic was severely disrupted for over two hours, creating a multi-kilometer-long traffic jam. The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) responded swiftly, deploying a crane to remove the bus and restore traffic flow. The injured devotees received treatment at the TTD-run Ashwini Hospital.
Some passengers allege the accident resulted from the driver attempting an overtaking maneuver. A full investigation into the cause of the accident is expected.
