Sun Jan 12 15:41:32 UTC 2025: ## Karnataka Congress Ministers Face Criticism Over Low Youth Congress Membership
**Bengaluru, January 12, 2025** – Several Karnataka Congress ministers are facing criticism for their poor performance in recruiting members for the Youth Congress during a recent enrollment drive, according to sources within the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC). Complaints have reportedly been filed with the All-India Congress Committee (AICC).
The drive, conducted in August and September of last year, aimed to register 24 lakh people. While 10.64 lakh memberships were accepted, 5.36 lakh are on hold due to identity issues, and 7.05 lakh applications were rejected.
Data reveals stark differences in membership numbers across constituencies represented by ministers. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s Varuna constituency saw only 1,095 registrations, while Home Minister G. Parameshwara’s Koratagere constituency had a mere 102, and Major Industries Minister M.B. Patil’s Babaleshwar constituency registered 986. Similarly, low numbers were recorded for Agriculture Minister N. Cheluvarayaswamy (173) and Animal Husbandry Minister K. Venkatesh (191). In contrast, Gubbi Srinivas (82) and N.A. Haris (1,825) showed significantly higher numbers.
The KPCC is currently reviewing the data and the poor performance of some ministers in this key party initiative is raising concerns within the party. Speculation about Congress leadership continues amidst these developments.
