**NEW DELHI** – The vibrant Punjabi harvest festival of Lohri will be celebrated on Monday, January 13th, 2025, marking the end of winter and the beginning of the harvest season. Observed primarily in the northern Indian region, particularly Punjab, Lohri is a joyous occasion filled with feasts, prayers, and bonfires.

Devotees traditionally offer prayers to Agni (fire) and the Sun god, seeking blessings for a bountiful harvest. Celebrations include the sharing of traditional sweets and snacks like peanuts, gajak, and sesame laddoos. The bonfire, a central element of the festival, symbolizes warmth and prosperity.

While Lohri is a significant cultural event, banks will remain open for business. January 2025 will feature a total of 13 holidays, including weekend days.
