**MUMBAI, INDIA** – Ram Charan’s highly anticipated return to the big screen with the political thriller “Game Changer” has experienced a significant drop in box office collections after a promising debut. The film, directed by S. Shankar and co-starring Kiara Advani, raked in a strong ₹51 crore (approximately $6.2 million USD) net on its opening day in India. However, this momentum faltered considerably on Day 2, with collections plummeting by 57.84% to ₹21.5 crore (approximately $2.6 million USD).
The Telugu-language film, clocking in at 2 hours and 44 minutes, saw its strongest performance in its home market (Telugu), contributing ₹12.7 crore, while the Hindi dubbed version added ₹7 crore. Tamil and Kannada versions garnered a combined ₹1.8 crore. Domestically, the film accumulated ₹72.5 crore by the end of Day 2. The global opening day collection reached ₹80.1 crore, with overseas markets contributing ₹19 crore. Global Day 2 figures are still pending.
The film’s performance is attributed, in part, to stiff competition from Allu Arjun’s enduring “Pushpa 2: The Rule,” which continues to perform strongly in its 38th day of release.
In a surprising move, the producers, Sri Venkateswara Creations, reintroduced the song “Naanaa Hyraanaa” to the film starting on Day 2, aiming to draw audiences back. This song will officially be included in the film’s version from January 14, 2025. Whether this tactic will prove successful remains to be seen, as “Game Changer” has received mixed reviews. The film’s future box office success remains uncertain given the sharp decline in viewership after its initial strong opening.
