**Hyderabad, January 12, 2025** – Manda Jagannadham, a four-time Member of Parliament representing Nagarkurnool, passed away on Sunday at the age of 73. He was undergoing treatment at Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS) at the time of his death.
Mr. Jagannadham, a prominent figure in Telangana politics, first won a parliamentary seat in 1996 as a member of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP). He went on to win three more elections – in 1999, 2004 (both with TDP), and 2009 (as a Congress candidate). A vocal advocate for a separate Telangana state, he later joined the Telangana Rashtra Samiti (now Bharat Rashtra Samithi or BRS) in 2013. After unsuccessfully contesting the 2014 elections, he served as the State government’s Special Representative in New Delhi until 2023. He subsequently rejoined the Congress party, then the BSP, after being denied a ticket in the 2019 and later Congress elections.
His death has prompted condolences from across the political spectrum. Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy acknowledged Mr. Jagannadham’s contributions to the Telangana movement. Other prominent figures offering their condolences included Union Minister Bandi Sanjay, Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar, and BRS leaders K. T. Rama Rao and Harish Rao. Mr. Jagannadham is survived by his wife, two sons, and a daughter.
